State Gay-Lussac's law and illustrate the law with one chemical reaction.
Solution:
Gay Lussac's law states that when gases react, they do so in volumes which bear simple whole number ratios to one another and to the volume of the products if gaseous provided the temperature and pressure remain constant.
Examples; N2(g) + 3H2(g) --> 2NH3(g)
1 : 3 : 2
CH4(g) + 2O2 --> CO2(g) + 2H2O(g)
1 : 2 : 1 : 2
2CO(g) + O2 --> 2CO2(g)
2 : 1 : 2
